Traditionally, a bike cannot be both supremely light and highly aerodynamic because deep, aero-optimized tube shapes require significantly more material, which inherently increases weight, while light bikes rely on minimal, often rounder, tube profiles. The new generation Bianchi Specialissima challenges this compromise by achieving a flagship weight of 6.6kgthrough strategic engineering. This process involved redistributing carbon material, slimming down the rear of the bike (super-fine seat stays) to allow for the creation of a more aerodynamic front end and head-tube profile. This design ensures riders get a best-in-class tool for mountains that also excels on flats and technical descents.

This aero-optimization at a low weight dramatically shifts the bike's competitive performance. Bianchi quantifies this using the "tipping point" or "threshold," which is the gradient where the lighter Specialissima outperforms a dedicated aero bike like the Oltre RC. Thanks to the new design, the Specialissima reaches this threshold much sooner, benefiting a medium-level amateur producing 250 wattson slopes as low as 4.2% compared to 6.2% for a professional rider on the previous model. On a 40km flat stretch, the aero enhancements save over 31 seconds, demonstrating that the new Specialissima preserves its ultra-light climbing capability while capturing substantial aerodynamic benefits at lower gradients.
