YSBC
Size - Build: XS - Shimano Ultegra DI2 / Vision SC45 Carbon Wheels

The Y1Rs is the pinnacle of Colnago's aerodynamic technology, developed to support the specific racing ambitions of UAE Team Emirates and Tadej Pogačar. This frameset represents a significant shift in design language for the brand, utilizing a shape inspired by advanced mathematical models and wind dynamics to achieve maximum efficiency at high speeds. Unlike the all-rounder V4Rs, the Y1Rs is built with a singular focus: defying the wind.

Aero-Dynamic Innovation and Efficiency

The most striking feature of the Y1Rs is the reduction of its frontal surface area by 19% compared to the V4Rs. This gain is achieved through a combination of a curved top tube and a specialized downtube design that optimizes airflow in various wind conditions. Testing conducted in real-world racing configurations shows that the Y1Rs requires 20 fewer watts than the V4Rs to maintain a speed of 50 km/h. This efficiency is further bolstered by the double "Y" junction at the seat tube—known as the DEFY joint—which improves aerodynamics in a high-turbulence area while simultaneously enhancing vibration absorption for increased rider comfort.

The CC.Y1 Handlebar and WYND Technology

Integration is handled by the revolutionary CC.Y1 integrated carbon handlebar, which incorporates proprietary WYND technology. The "gull-wing" design of the handlebar is engineered to minimize airflow separation and improve stability during high-speed maneuvers and explosive sprints. Despite its complex aerodynamic shape, the cockpit maintains extreme levels of stiffness to ensure immediate power transfer. The CC.Y1 system also allows for a fully internal cable routing setup, which streamlines the front end and simplifies maintenance compared to previous integrated designs.

Structural Performance and Compatibility

While the frame is built for speed, it also sees a 3.5% increase in structural stiffness to handle the torque of professional-level accelerations. The frame and fork are designed to accommodate tires up to 32mm, reflecting the modern standard for lower rolling resistance on varied WorldTour surfaces. The frameset is optimized for electronic groupsets and disc brakes, featuring integrated bottle cage mounts that sit flush within the tube profiles to further reduce drag
